What Changed Me?

Creating something out of nothing has always fascinated me. You innovate, I levitate. With nearly two decades in the hospitality and entertainment industry, I have the skills to open and run a successful bar, but recognize that the concept wasn’t mine to begin with.

For a long time, I believed I lived to work, which shaped my character and work ethic but wasn’t sustainable. Shifting to a mindset of working to live allowed me to enjoy life and understand myself better. By blending the best of both perspectives, I found my passion in managing talent and businesses.

Hospitality extends beyond the workplace for me, as I would much rather throw a party than go to one.

Making someone feel comfortable in a new environment is one of

the best ways to connect with people and create a sense of community.

Not everyone frequents the same places, but I believe that most spaces have the potential to make someone feel at home.

I’ve applied this mindset in my work, which allows a diverse group of people to thrive in the same setting. To me, effective management means helping people excel in their roles while working towards a common goal and vision. Leading a team involves more than just direction and guidance. I’ve learned to not treat people how you want to be treated, but instead how they want to be treated. Everybody is different, and they need to be managed differently.

Currently, I manage the Annex Hotel in Toronto and represent an independent artist. In both roles, I lead teams towards shared goals, taking pride in setting up my peers for success. As a leader, I believe that I work for my team, not the other way around.
