ANTHONY NUSCA

What Changed Me?

My name is Anthony Nusca. I’m a Toronto-based photographer whose work is shaped by my global upbringing between Canada and Sweden, offering a unique cross-cultural perspective rooted in authentic moments. I strive to explore the intricate relationship between pivotal life experiences and their profound impact on identity, creating deeply personal narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

My work captures how life’s defining moments shape our perceptions of ourselves and the world, inviting viewers to engage with visual stories that explore the intersection of life, culture, and memory—wherever they may be found.

Seven years ago, I was on track to become a mechanical engineer—until one day, a childhood friend casually asked if I’d help him take some fit pics.

That small moment changed everything.

One photoshoot turned into another, and before I knew it, that spark had snowballed into a full-blown passion that kept growing.

Five years ago, after finishing my bachelor’s degree, I made the decision to move back to Toronto and pursue photography full-time. Since then, my career has been shaped by countless moments—driven by passion and guided by intuition.

In the creative world, it’s hard to see how things will connect while moving forward, but looking back,

everything aligns with the path that was meant for you

One piece of advice from a mentor that has stuck with me over the years is to make my work more personal and introspective—a challenge I continue to embrace.

Last year, I released my debut photo book, Before We Grew Up. And just last month, I hosted my second solo exhibition, Portraits of Home. The impact these projects have had on me, and the direction they’re shaping for future work, is something I’m still discovering.

I’d always heard about learning more about yourself through your art, but until now, I hadn’t fully experienced that firsthand. It’s a process I’m eager to continue exploring in the years ahead.
