KIANA

My philosophy and values are deeply intertwined with my personal journey and cultural background, which shows in every song I make.

Growing up in different cultural environments, shaped by Persian and Dutch influences, made me appreciate being exposed to different environments, people and the beauty of embracing your unique identity that’s essentially the result of everything you’ve seen and been through.

I definitely struggled with my identity growing up and didn’t really know where i fit in. Living in white dominated neighbourhoods in Holland and the early years of living in Canada made me embarrassed of my cultural identity, while at the same time I struggled to connect with family back home because of the difference in environments. It makes you realize how much culture and environment connect and separate people at the same time.

I definitely now see the value of being exposed to different environments and cultures because it shapes your unique thinking, personality and energy, and i’m more grateful for it now than ever.

Throughout my music journey, it’s always been really important to me to channel raw emotions and my experiences whether good or bad into my art, creating a space where people can connect with the complexities of human emotion.

Self Discovery

For me, music is not just a form of expression, it’s cathartic and has really helped me find myself. The biggest lesson i’ve learned is that

BEAUTY CAN EMERGE FROM EVEN THE DARKEST MOMENTS OF LIFE.

My music serves as a testament to the resilience of human spirit, and that strength and healing is found in embracing your pain. But at the same time, I strongly believe in the power of speech, and that continuous dwelling can lead to more suffering.

WE ESSENTIALLY CREATE OUR EVERYDAY REALITIES BY THE WORDS WE PUT OUT AND THE ENERGY WE MOVE FORWARD WITH, AND IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO TREAT THAT AS CURRENCY.
